Alemanha

Em 1953, um grupo de representantes dos governos europeus — inclusive um grego — se reuniu na Conferência de Londres para assinar um acordo de redução de parte majoritária da dívida da Alemanha Ocidental. Por isso, economistas tem usado o episódio para traçar paralelos e apontar por que a Alemanha deveria ser menos rígida com as demandas gregas.
Apesar de demonstrar interesse em ajudar, os credores não têm sido tão lenientes com a Grécia quanto os administradores europeus foram com a Alemanha em 1953.

In 1953, a group of representatives from the European governments — Greece’s included — got together in London to sign an agreement for the reduction of a major portion of West Germany’s debt. Because of that, economists have used the episode to bear comparison and indicate that Germany should be less rigid with Greek demands.
Although having shown interest in helping, the lenders have not been so lenient towards Greece as the European governments were towards Germany in 1953.
